Point of Care Diagnostik

Diaglobal´s miniature photometer fulfil these requirements in an ideal manner. Mains-independent operation and low weight combined with easy operation characterise accessories in a practical case and can be used directly at the scene of the accident - even in catastrophe areas. Diaglobal´s miniature photometer are also well-suited for use as typical emergency devices for in-patient use.

Emergency diagnostics, accident and catastrophe medicine
Haemoglobin and haematocrit create the decision basis for infusions and transfusions to be carries out after acute life-threatening blood loss. By determining two values (in this case haemoglobin and haematocrit are equally matched) together with an intermediate albumin solution infusion, it is possible to determine the exact blood volume and to judge any acute blood loss. If larger blood losses have taken place, immediate infusion of blood surrogate or transfusion of whole human blood is indicated because otherwise the danger of a haemorrhagic shok (bleeding to death) exists. Checking the progress of the haematocrit after the infusion has taken place enables monitoring of the plasma erythrocyte volume relationship, thus avoiding complications such as hyperglobulia and haemodilution.

Bedside testing
Testing directly at the patient´s bedside is becoming increasingly important because the distance via the central laboratory is too far in several cases. Using the mobile Diaglobal photometer, the treating doctor can also determine the blood counts required during home visits and introduce the necessary diagnostic and therapy monitoring measures.

Neonatal examinations
One of the routine examinations for newly born babies is the determination of plasma bilirubin. As the examination should be carried out as early as possible, measurement is normally made in the ward for newly born babies or at home. The measurement system is very well-suited for home births and widely accepted by midwives.

Sports area

Countries with extensive rural areas
Important areas of use for the Diaglobal photometer exist in countries with a low population density and an infrastructure wich is only developed to a limited extent.
In the near future, large-scale laboratories and diagnosis centres which are typical for routine diagnosis in western Europe and the USA will not be significant for these areas. Rather than these, manual workplaces where the most important clinical and chemical parameters can be determined without incurring great expenses are already in demand there now. Diaglobal´s mobile photometer which can also be operated independent of power supplies fulifil exactly these requirements.
